I still can’t grapple with the Connecticut
Elementary School shooting. It is very sad and it rips my heart. Just imagine
waiting for your son/daughter, nephew/niece, grandson/daughter to come home to
your warm embrace and chit chat about the new poems learnt at school and the
new pals made.
Just imagine a husband/wife, father/mother,
brother/sister waiting in earnest expectation for their loved one to come
walking through the main door to share the joy of teaching children at school.
All this was shattered because evil still lives in
our midst and we fail to confront/uproot it. All this because, in the words of
Apologist Ravi Zacharias; “we have removed God from our schools”.
I have learnt in this life that evil can never
triumph in the presence of God. Let us return to our first love and He will
restore the years the evil one has taken from us and put smiles back into our
lives.
My prayer is that
through this evil we will learn to appreciate that God values every life, no
matter whether it is the life of that child living in Sudan, Afghanistan, Iraq,
Lebanon, Ghana or that of the child in US. Every life is so precious to God and
whoever takes one will have to contend with God
